Parent Appreciation Day
Fa-Yi Chong-De Singapore Tao Centre held the annual Parent Appreciation Day on October 13th, 2019 at Chong-De Cultural Building. The event comprised of songs and musical performances to commemorate our parents’ loving care for us and gives us a chance to express gratitude towards our parents.
A Love Like No Other
The joyous and appreciative atmosphere reverberated throughout the Praying Hall. The audiences immersed themselves in heart-warming performances by the Singapore Cucurbit Flute Team and the Fa-Yi Chong-De Singapore Choir. In addition to the Lin siblings’ tear-jerking duet, Brother Xu’s solo performance also struck a deep chord with his passionate rendition of the song “The Three Generations.” Brother Lin’s personal narration, “The Women in My Life”, was undeniably the highlight of the event. It testified that Tao cultivation is the best way to accumulate merits for our parents and to repay them for our upbringings.
A social experiment video was shown where children had to muster the courage and tell their parents, “I Love You.” The audience were faced with a poignant reflection: When was the last time we said “I Love You” to our parents?
A Perfect Ending
The Singapore Students Group presented the finale sign language performance to the songs “The Kneeling Lamb” and “Prostration to Parents.” Tao Transmitting Master Tan then led a solemn ceremony where children prostrated in front of their parents and chanted five sutras for them. All the performances disseminated the message of filial piety. It is the most important virtue as we would not be here if it were not for our parents and ancestors.
The annual Parent Appreciation Day was a grand success. Many thanks to all the performers and backstage crew who volunteered their time and talents.
A big Thank You to all mothers and fathers! You are our heroes!
