Be Our Own Superhero in Life
Singapore 4Q Happy Boot Camp For Teenagers
Fa Yi Chong De Singapore Students Group conducted a 4Q Happy Boot Camp from 31 May to 1 June 2019. The 3-day / 2-night camp had attracted 40 student participants!
On the evening of 31 May, students aged between 13 to 17 years old arrived at Chong De Building with their parents to join the inaugural 4Q Happy Boot Camp conducted in English. The six teams were named after the ever popular and box office-smashing MARVEL Superheroes - Superman, Batman, Ironman, Spiderman, Thor and Captain America! Under the hearty and warm welcome of the Group Leaders, the participants settled into the joyous and delightful moments very quickly.
On Day 2 of the Camp, Manager Yeo, in his opening keynote speech, deliberated on the success factors for personal growth in the 21st century. He strongly encouraged the participants to adorn life by exuding the 4Q qualities. The resounding applause of the participants marked the official commencement of the 4Q Happy Boot Camp!
All lecturers for Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), Adversity Quotient (AQ) and Moral Quotient (MQ) had actively injected interesting activities, games and videos etc. during lessons to help illustrate the key learning points vividly. For instance, one AQ lecturer used the exciting Plank Challenge to test the endurance level of participants during tough times. Another EQ lecturer also used astounding personal experiences to illustrate the point that all people, affairs or objects that one encounters during good and bad times in life are very relevant and ideal tools to strengthen one’s EQ. In MQ, the lecturer also dwelled deeply into filial piety in addition to good character development.
The 4Q Superheroes Challenge was the camp highlight! It was a test of the teams’ physical strength, determination, creativity, teamwork, and problem solving skills. The atmosphere skyrocketed with loud cheers and applause when the emcee announced the sixteen game masters of the 4Q Superheroes Challenge. The highly energised participants roared in excitement, unleashing a blaze of pent-up emotions of the Superheroes. Despite encountering numerous surprise attacks from the “Enemies”, the adrenaline rush caused by the surprise attacks broke the chain of fear of the participants.
When nightfall came, although there was no campfire, it did not affect the passion of fire burning inside the hearts of the participants. The stage was all set for the participants who showcased their self-choreographed dances and talents, hitting the camp climax at this juncture! Following the hyped up activity, the participants were asked to do self-reflection and pen down their bad habits on a small wooden plank. They then “chopped and broke” the planks using their bare hands in Taekwondo style, signifying their determination to rid of those bad habits.
The 4Q Happy Boot Camp came to an awesome closure as the hall resonated with melodious songs sang by the participants. All would agree that the camp closure signified the start of a lifetime advocation towards 4Q, and everyone could make a difference by being our own Superhero in life.
