“It’s been so long since we met, I have so much to tell you…” The halls and corridors that lived in silence for 2 years once again buzz with life as the laughter of the youth of Chong De filled it. On 16th July 2022, the Singapore Chong De Students Group held their first physical combined class after a 2 years break.

Students from secondary school, junior college, polytechnic, ITE and university arrived and greeted one another just like old times. They sat down in the spacious hall and listened to the topic delivered by Tao Transmitting Master Zhan. He shared with us the words of wisdom of Ji-Gong Living Buddha from the Oracle《潛力人才》.
From folding origami hearts with their eyes closed, playing charades with colourful balls, blind drawing to express gratitude in their life, the students went through a specially-prepared series of station games. Through gameplay, they learnt more about Adversity Quotient (AQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ), why it was important to manage them and how to manage them. They experienced lessons that did not involve a calculator or writing 1000 words, something that hasn’t been taught in school. A lesson about their lives.
“Quack, Meh, Moo!” An assortment of animal sounds filled the halls as the students search for their group mates. The smiles peeked from behind their mask when they hear the familiar “Quack” just an arm’s length away.
We were engaged in icebreakers, Minesweeper and Animal Kingdom, all of which were a chance to get to know one another better. The students come from different institutions and different classes, from different family backgrounds and upbringings. From the initial awkward “Hello” to the reluctant “Bye”, this was a day that will be etched in their memory.
Sitting on the same chair, looking at the familiar sight in front of our eyes, something felt different. It could be the excitement from seeing those familiar faces or it could be the anticipation of a new chapter with the once unfamiliar. Regardless, we are back!
